It takes m4 mags, has a v3 gearbox with hopupunit which is screwed to the gearbox and has a 420mm innerbarrel. It is already not that loud and still has some air between gearbox an body. Lefse Well-Known Member Supporting Member. The quieter the better. A "healthy" AEG will have little to no gear noise and little motor noise, this depends on the motor grip and such of course. Well it's a v2 Gearbox and it is fairly loud but doesn't make any grinding noises or any screeching.

On the other hand, I have my m4. Today I put helical gears back into it and shimmed it. The sound in the gearbox is a little less than stock gears but not as quiet as the 13:1's I put in my SR25. So I am going to get myself some 13:1's for the M4 as well. So, for less gearbox noise, get 13:1 gears. I recommend Super Shooter.

You can only do this if you are experienced on airsoft gun and you might void the warranty. To open up the bottom of the pistol grip and check if the wires are connected properly on the motor. (V2 & V3 gear box only.) if they are connected, use a electrical tested to test if the circuit is complete (use omh meter).

Put it all together, with the broken gear, it fires, great. Makes some horrible noises though, the motor sounds as if it's straining quite a bit still, and the gears sound to be grinding. Take it apart again, check the shimming, loosen it a little, add a little more grease, put it together, it works! Now onto the current problem I have.

For an M4/V2 gearbox based build, the Polarstar FE remains my go to. The tolerances are tight on the unit so you don't end up with shell slop that leads to misaligned nozzles and a host of other issues that pop up on the cylinder replacements.
